It brings me joy to share that Upar, neeche aur darmiyan, my film project situated at the banks of nine Himalayan rivers, has just received a Technical Equipment grant from the Chö Fund.
The Chö Fund supports critical narratives which empower indigenous knowledge systems. I’m very grateful for their rock solid belief in our endeavour! : )
Upar, neeche aur darmiyan is supported by a grant from the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art , New York.

FILM LOG 1

It’s been a few weeks of free flight while in pre-production for ‘Upar, neeche aur darmiyan’. My head has been immersed in the high mountains, cleaving through footage I shot on the edit timeline, number crunching budget sheets and brainstorming with crew members. I feel deep gratitude to them mountain goddesses for allowing me to plunge into these waters again. High five to this girl right out of film school rolling a PD 170 Mini DV tape camera, directing a schedule with a master craftsman in 2009. I plan to keep a Film Log up on my website. Seasons change, and the bird must sing.

It gives me great pleasure to share that The Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art, New York, will be producing my new work ‘Upar, Neeche aur Darmiyan’ (Above, Below and In Between).
’Upar, Neeche aur Darmiyan’ brings the voices of the people from the banks of nine Himalayan rivers to the fore through the medium of film. The Himalayan form I have kept as a compass for this work is the macrocosm of Vajrayogini, the Dakini of Mirror-Like Wisdom, she who ‘illuminates all hidden meanings’.
I feel deep gratitude to my mentors Venerable Tsenshap Serkong Rinpoche, Kumpen, Glen Svensson, Tim Van Der Haegen, MP Ranjan, Amit Dutta and Jitin Abraham for their pointing instructions through the course of this journey. I look forward to sharing glimpses of our process as my crew and I commence production over the coming months.
Supported by a grant from the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art, New York.
